Designs

This is my idea for the motiff. She's a dream girl and you can follow her around the school to find where you need to go. I need to alter the colours to make it more interesting, I want to trial numerous versions of her aswell.

Here's the boy version, so it applied to both genders. He needs to be altered too.

Buildings around my area

Typography designs

Here they've played around with the font size to create different shapes and to make certain words stand out more. Also they chose red as the background colour, which adds to the romantic theme.

In this design they made a gun out of lettering. I especially like how they've used an upside down 'r' for the trigger, it's really creative. I also like how they've spread out the letters for 'bang' which compliments the sound it would make.

I found this design interesting because of  the way they created an actual zebra with only it's name. They've given it a realistic effect by altering the font style, size and colour.

This typography is shaped like the map of the world. The text isn't totally readable, as the font is really bold and overlaps the  country's outline. However it gives it a unique cut out effect. Also I like the simple use of colour here, the colours work well together.

This is my favourite design. The sentence is made from a mix of sweets, creating a bold, bright mix of colours. The background is kept plain, making it stand out and not look over crowded.

Final logo design

For my final design i joined two ideas into one. I like the effect of the paint splattering everywhere, it's exsiting, fresh and colourful. I wanted to keep the design quite free. The different colours represent the the different strands and as the mouth is the most common way of expressing yourself, I thought it suited the school best. The bold, black outline is simple yet makes the shape clear and stand out above the colour.

Logo design trials

I started with a really loose design at first, experimenting with colours and different effects i could create with a paintbrush.

I continued to try out different styles and shapes, as you can see very loosely.

Here i started to think about what i felt Brit was about and the idea of a mouth came to mind, as Brit allows you to express yourself and speach is one of the main forms of expression.

Starting to focus more on a mouth shape, using less colours.

After having trailed styles and colours i focused on getting a sharpe shape for the mouth.

Trailing colours, giving it a more unique look.

The next thing that sprung to mind was that the text wasn't very interesting, so i kept the mouth design and experimented a bit more with the text.
For my last trail i used a variety of colours to represent different strands and have kept a loose style to the text.

Artist inspiration

Jace

Jace is a graffiti-artist originally from Reunion.

Il est l'auteur des gouzous , petits personnages que l'on trouve dans les rues des
villes et au bord des rout
He is the author of gouzous, small characters that are found in city streets and roadsides.
Jace specialises in hijacking billboards.
His work is exhibited all over the world.

I like how Jace keeps the same faceless character in each sketch and just adjusts the environment it's in. His designs are quite simple but are powerfully drawn, which gives an immediate impact.

Os Gemeos
(The Twins)

They started painting graffiti in 1987 and gradually became a main influence in the local scene, helping to define Brazil's own style. Their work often features yellow-skinned characters - taken from the yellow tinge both of the twins have in their dreams - but is otherwise diverse and ranges from tags to complicated murals.

I really like the unusual shape of the characters and the use of bright and flurecent paint in their designs. Their use of shading creates an incredible 3D effect, bringing the characters to life.

Swoon
Swoon is a street artist originally from Daytona Beach, Florida. She moved to New York City
at age nineteen, and specializes in life-size wheat paste prints and paper cutouts of figures.

I think the rough, edgey look the stenciled lines create is amazing. Also the way she blends images into each other really fascinates me. Although there is a lot to look at, it's exsiting to the eye, as you unravel patterns within patterns.

Fons Schiedon
Dutch director and animator
His work consists of moving images of various dimensions and characteristics. Schiedon has worked for clients such as MTV Asia, Nickelodeon and de Volkskrant.

His animation is very sophisticated. He uses proportion really well and keeps his colour tones quite basic. The roundness to his designs, makes it look as though the characters have been blown up with air.

Art Gallery Designs/ Aedas

This is an art gallery in New York. Everything in the gallery is made from recycled material which I think is really amazing. I love they chunky shapes covering in the lighting it reminds me of bubble wrap.

This design was for an art gallery's toilet. I think it's really fun and love the approach they've taken, giving each girl a different expression to laugh about. It looks as though they are behind a slate of glass, even though it's just a print, very clever.

Here they have made the room, suit the art on the walls. It's a very icey, cold theme, using lots of silver and white. I like how the tree covers the whole ceiling, filling the room with unusual metal branches. It creates a completly abnormal atmosphere.

Secondary school designed by Aedas
Beis Yaakov High School for Girls was completed in August 2006 at a cost of £5.9m and provides 275 pupil places for the ages 11-16.
The building is located on a brownfield site, previously occupied by a primary school.

Significant features of the site are:
A substantial fall in level from north to south, including retaining walls at approximately midpoint and to the southern boundary

The design of the school fascinates me, as it resembles the
wing and fuselage of an airplane, giving it a sense of freedom and dynamism.
Because this school building is so exciting, I think it would encourage
students to apply for it.
