Artist inspiration

Jace

Jace is a graffiti-artist originally from Reunion.

Il est l'auteur des gouzous , petits personnages que l'on trouve dans les rues des
villes et au bord des rout
He is the author of gouzous, small characters that are found in city streets and roadsides.
Jace specialises in hijacking billboards.
His work is exhibited all over the world.

I like how Jace keeps the same faceless character in each sketch and just adjusts the environment it's in. His designs are quite simple but are powerfully drawn, which gives an immediate impact.

Os Gemeos
(The Twins)

They started painting graffiti in 1987 and gradually became a main influence in the local scene, helping to define Brazil's own style. Their work often features yellow-skinned characters - taken from the yellow tinge both of the twins have in their dreams - but is otherwise diverse and ranges from tags to complicated murals.

I really like the unusual shape of the characters and the use of bright and flurecent paint in their designs. Their use of shading creates an incredible 3D effect, bringing the characters to life.

Swoon
Swoon is a street artist originally from Daytona Beach, Florida. She moved to New York City
at age nineteen, and specializes in life-size wheat paste prints and paper cutouts of figures.

I think the rough, edgey look the stenciled lines create is amazing. Also the way she blends images into each other really fascinates me. Although there is a lot to look at, it's exsiting to the eye, as you unravel patterns within patterns.

Fons Schiedon
Dutch director and animator
His work consists of moving images of various dimensions and characteristics. Schiedon has worked for clients such as MTV Asia, Nickelodeon and de Volkskrant.

His animation is very sophisticated. He uses proportion really well and keeps his colour tones quite basic. The roundness to his designs, makes it look as though the characters have been blown up with air.
